Beehiiv puts creator monetization first, email second
Beehiiv combines newsletter publishing, a hosted site, audience growth, paid subscriptions, referrals, and advertising tools. We use its free Launch plan for our own newsletter; the strongest fit is a creator or media business that values those native growth and monetization tools more than deep marketing automation.
Most email platforms begin with campaigns and add creator features later. Beehiiv is organized around publishing a newsletter and growing a media business, with email as the primary distribution layer.
We run a newsletter on beehiiv's free Launch plan. In our use, the editor and publishing workflow are straightforward, while the more important buying questions sit around audience limits, paid growth and monetization features, automation depth, and integrations.
Beehiiv currently offers a free plan for up to 2,500 subscribers, then paid Scale and Max plans whose prices rise with audience size. Paid subscriptions carry no beehiiv platform take, although Stripe processing fees still apply.
This review separates our own Launch-plan experience from beehiiv's published plan, feature, and pricing information.

Creator monetization features
Beehiiv supports paid subscriptions through Stripe and states that it takes 0% of subscription revenue. Stripe's published payment-processing fee still applies, so revenue modeling should include that cost.
Scale and higher add growth and monetization tools including the referral program, recommendations, Boosts, and the beehiiv Ad Network. Those features reduce the number of separate systems a newsletter operator may need, but access and economics depend on plan, eligibility, audience, and campaign availability.
Creators should compare the expected value of those tools with the full subscription cost at their current and projected list size. A native feature is useful only if it supports the publication's actual growth or revenue motion.
Email features and limitations
In our use, the editor and publish flow cover straightforward newsletter production without much setup. Beehiiv also publishes templates, custom web domains, audience segmentation, analytics, and a hosted site.
Automation is less central to the product than publishing, growth, and monetization. Teams that depend on detailed behavioral triggers, complex branching, lead scoring, or sales handoffs should model their hardest workflow and compare a marketing-automation platform.
Deliverability should be evaluated with the publication's own domain, authentication, audience, and content. Platform tooling helps, but it cannot substitute for consent, list hygiene, and responsible sending.
Pricing structure in 2026
Beehiiv's Launch plan is free for up to 2,500 subscribers. At the 1,000-subscriber setting, the current pricing page displays Scale at $43 per month and Max at $96 per month when billed annually; the price increases at larger audience tiers. Enterprise uses custom pricing.
Scale adds features such as the Ad Network, Boosts, digital products, email automations, surveys and polls, advanced website analytics, and additional seats and publications. Max expands limits and adds features including sponsorship controls and priority support.
Beehiiv states a 0% platform take on paid subscriptions. Stripe's published processing fee is separate. Model the plan at today's list size, a realistic growth tier, seats, publications, and the specific monetization features the business will use.
Who should use Beehiiv
Beehiiv is strongest for newsletter creators and media businesses that want publishing, audience growth, paid subscriptions, referrals, recommendations, and advertising tools in one system.
The free Launch plan is a practical way to test the editor, site, signup flow, and basic operating rhythm before paying for growth or monetization features. Scale becomes the relevant comparison when those native features can replace separate tools or create revenue.
Choose a deeper marketing-automation platform when the primary need is behavioral orchestration, lead scoring, ecommerce lifecycle messaging, or complex CRM handoffs. The deciding factor is the operating model, not the size of the feature list.

A creator monetization platform with solid email basics
Beehiiv is a credible fit for a creator or media business that wants newsletter publishing, a hosted site, audience-growth loops, paid subscriptions, and advertising tools in one product. Our Launch-plan use supports the publishing-workflow assessment; paid-plan value still depends on the features and audience tier the operator will actually use.
Start free, validate the publishing cadence and signup path, then model Scale or Max at the projected list size. Teams whose core requirement is sophisticated lifecycle automation should compare dedicated email and CRM platforms before committing.

How does Beehiiv compare to Substack for paid newsletters?
Beehiiv publishes a broader set of website, referral, ad-network, and audience-growth tools. Its pricing page states a 0% platform take on paid subscriptions; Stripe's payment-processing fee still applies. Compare the current total cost and publishing workflow with Substack before migrating.
Can I migrate my existing email list to Beehiiv?
Beehiiv provides subscriber imports and migration guidance. Timing depends on list size, data quality, custom fields, domain authentication, templates, and automations, so test an export and import before setting a cutover date.
What's included in Beehiiv's website builder?
The website builder includes customizable templates, custom domain support, and basic SEO tools. It's designed for simple newsletter landing pages and creator portfolios rather than complex websites. Advanced features like e-commerce require third-party integrations.
Does Beehiiv integrate with other marketing tools?
Beehiiv offers integrations with popular tools like Zapier, Google Analytics, and social media platforms. However, the integration ecosystem is smaller than dedicated email platforms like Mailchimp or ConvertKit. Native CRM or sales tool integrations are limited.
How reliable is Beehiiv's email deliverability?
Our own sends have not shown a repeated delivery problem, but one newsletter is not a universal benchmark. Inbox placement still depends on authentication, consent, list hygiene, content, engagement, and sending behavior; evaluate it with your own audience.
